This is a gallery of the yarns previously shared on Suzy’s Woolwench website which has now been moved to Fiberygoodness. Very far from being everything that has been spun over the years, this is reasonably representative of Suzy’s spinning experiments, from stocking the Etsy shop with textured yarns (2012-2014) to spinning story centred themed and concept yarns, which of course, is an ongoing part of this fiberygoodness life!
Suzy and Arlene Thayer (SpinArtiste) together developed the Journey to the Golden Fleece creativity course for fiber artists in 2013; a ten month course to explore themes, develop an intentional approach to spinning, and expand creatively as a fiber artist. This course ran for several years and became a wonderful online community.
Suzy is now Publisher and Editor in Chief of the quarterly fiber art magazine ‘TinyStudio Creative Life’ – created in 2018 as a platform for fiber artists around the world to share and inspire through fiber, and can be found on this website to either purchase as a single issue, or to subscribe to the Digital Membership to also access the tinyStudio Tv library, filled with tutorials and how-to’s for spinning and Fiber Prep.
Suzy has also developed and tutors the Designer Yarns Certificate courses for the New Zealand spinners guild ‘Creative Fibre New Zealand’, as well as teaches the occasional workshop when the schedule allows!
Suzy’s approach to spinning is to start with experimentation, and then continue to push the boundaries as much as possible. The yarn she is most proud of is her ‘Brave’ yarn, a bulky, no-twist singles yarn, which you will see eventually as you scroll through the galleries below. Brave was a challenge Suzy gave herself to make something that she actually thought was impossible, but which became a beautiful and unique yarn that she has continued to make ever since.
Much of Suzy’s yarn creation is made possible by having the best tools to spin with, and she is very proud to be part of the Majacraft team, assisting in the development of new designs (most recently the beautiful Luna spinning wheel) as well as running the Majacraft social media sites and website blog.
Many of the yarns here can also be found in spinning tutorials on the Fiberygoodness YouTube Channel
Please enjoy the galleries below, we are still only just up to yarns from about 2019, apart from some fun Christmas yarns and a tailspun that snuck in from 2023! The gallery’s will be gradually added to as time allows!
